If you're looking for a tool to speed up the process of removing damaged or mildewed grout, then Grout Grabber is for you. The Grout Grabber kit includes 1 adapter, 1 carbide grit blade, and 1 Allen wrench. You'll need a reciprocating saw, preferably cordless. Using the Allen wrench, mount the grout grabber adapter and carbide grit blade on a reciprocating saw. To remove existing grout, approach the grout line at a low speed and cut into the joint until you reach the bottom of the joint. It is especially comfortable to hold the saw in an upside-down position. At the bottom of the joint, increase saw speed and pull backwards, never use Grout Grabber at full speed. Be especially careful as you approach a grout intersection. A tile or two may be out of alignment, and it is possible to chip a tile's edge with the tool. Pay attention, but let your tool do the work. The replaceable carbide grit-coated blades are 1/16" thick, which allows you to work with tiles that have a thin grout line. On the other hand, you can add a total of 4 blades to the shaft (two on each side) to cut grout lines up to 1/2" in a single pass. Wider grout lines can be cut with a second pass. It is important to choose a blade thickness less than the joint width to prevent the tool from binding in the grout line and damaging the edges of the tiles. Whether you are a homeowner or a professional, this tool will get about 300 square feet from a single blade depending on how old the grout is and the type of grout used. There is very little grout dust, but it will be very fine, so be sure to use a good shop vac or a vacuum that has a clean bag and filter to prevent blowing the dust back out into the room. If you are looking for a professional looking grout removal job that can be done quickly, then Grout Grabber is for you!

 "works great, but..." 2010-06-09
By A. Pritchard (Seattle, WA United States)
Definitely the fastest way to remove grout I've come across. I used this to remove grout from between large format floor tiles (1/8" joint), and in 1/2 a day I had my whole kitchen done. Words of advice: go slow, keep a FIRM grip on the sawzall (I ended up with several scratches), and don't double up the blades. I tried this initially (2 blades) and immediately chipped and scratched a tile. You can always make a 2nd pass to clear out the extra grout. Also, it's billed as dustless, but it's far from it. Keep a shop vac handy (with bag) and sweep up the grout frequently. I did this and still ended up with fine dust all over the house. Not sure how well this would work on walls - it worked well for floors where you could easily maintain a firm grip and downward pressure.

 "Not as Advertised" 2010-04-20
By Mike (Chicago, IL)
This product definitely did not work as advertised. The blade was worn out and ineffective before I had even finished the first row of tiles. No doubt that is why this product is available by internet order only. No reputable retail or big box store would want to carry this product and deal with the consumer complaints. Never again!

 "Effective but short lived..." 2010-02-10
By C. Krawczyk (Buffalo, NY)
Product worked very well out of the package as described. Was the fastest method I tried for my job. However, the blades did wear down after about 24-28 linear feet of cutting. Did not find this product very cost effective as I was using 3 blades at a time and attempting to rotate them through the blade positions. It is also not a "dust free" process. This tool definitely creates dust, although it creates the least of all the methods I did try. I did switch over to a dremel type tool with a diamond grout cutting blade that lasted much longer and was a better option for me as I had a big removal job (300 s.f) I cannot recommend the Grout Grabber unless you have a small job such as bathroom floor or shower stall.

Was very happy with the service from the Flooring Connection who sold the extra blades for this product.

 "Great Grout Grabber" 2010-02-10

The Grout Grabber GG001 Grout Removal Tool for Most Reciprocating Saws or Sawzalls was a fantastic tool to use to remove grout. Word of caution: don't go too close to the tile, or you will damage the tile. You can get the grout on the ends of the tile safely with a hand tool. This product, Grout Grabber GG001 Grout Removal Tool, is awesome!

"Works Great but replacement blades are an issue" 2009-10-05
By J. Legrand (new orleans, LA)
I'm in the process of remodeling a bathroom. I was looking for a means of removing the grout between tiles that would produce a minimum level of dust. The grout grabber worked wonderfully. However, the blade wore out relatively quickly (worn to the point no more carbide grit is visible on the blade) and the high cost of the blades (measured as a percentage of the original cost of the tool) coupled with the small number of places that carry replacements has forced me to consign the grout grabber to the bottom of my tool box. I am considering modifying the grabber to use the standard carbide grout blades that are available at my local home center but that is a project for another day.
