 "Not for 1/8" work!" 2010-03-12
By David A. Donnelly (NJ)
The job I did was for a ceramic tile shower with 1/8" grout lines. I wanted to completely re-grout the stall. This tool was only useful after I used a dremel tool (1/16" bit, which also burns up too quick) to route out the lines. The diamond shaped bit easily "pushes" the remaining edge grout right off. Don't think you can use it to remove to a decent depth without small chipping of the tile edges. Also Horizontal lines are harder to do with the knife edged blade. You have to pull it across the line. What happened to me was I hit a pocket in the grout line which caught the blade and chipped a big piece off. Now that tile needs to be replaced. Luckily I have an extra from the previous homeowner. I would imagine the "lathe" style triangle bit would perform the same in a 1/4" line. In a perfect world, it might work fine. But then again... Definitely not a tool for pro's. Here's my advice: Hire a pro with a Fein tool, rent one, or re-tile. Re-grouting is a dusty, sucky and time consuming job.

 "Grout Getter" 2009-06-13
By Richard E. Dye (Mt. Shasta, CA)
The Grout Getter is a simple tool and very easy to use. It is very sturdy and comfortable in the hand. It was

just as effective pulling as well as pushing. It was quick without damaging tile. Should emphasize this tool

not too be used with the wider, sanded grouts.
